Wind Turbine & Wind Farm Commissioning
Once construction of a wind turbine is complete, commissioning can begin. The commissioning process comprises a strict set of activities to confirm the turbine has been installed correctly and is ready for energy production.
Commissioning tests include electrical assessments for both the turbine and electrical infrastructure, as well as inspection of mechanics and regulatory civil engineering quality records. Stringent testing at this stage is vital to ensure a high quality and efficient wind farm is delivered and maintained.

Full commissioning is a multi-stage process that ensures the turbine is safe to energise and operate. This includes Cold Commissioning (static tests on mechanical and electrical systems), Hot Commissioning (live power testing), and final grid synchronisation. Our technicians perform exhaustive checks on the pitch and yaw systems, SCADA communications, and safety chain circuits to ensure the asset meets all OEM performance specifications.
Our electrical engineering team handles the complete HV (High Voltage) and LV (Low Voltage) testing regime. This ensures compliance with G99 (or G58/G59) grid connection standards in the UK. We manage the protection relay testing, transformer energisation, and cable insulation resistance tests, providing a full suite of certification required for the final handover to the DNO (Distribution Network Operator).
Professional commissioning is often a mandatory requirement to validate the manufacturer’s warranty. By using GWO-certified technicians who follow strict OEM checklists and torque-tensioning protocols, AIS Wind Energy provides a documented audit trail of the turbine’s “as-built” status. This “Take-Over” documentation proves that the turbine was energised under correct conditions, protecting your long-term investment.
