AIS Wind Energy provides dependable cost-effective crane hire solutions for the wind energy sector. With our own in-house fleet and the advantages of being part of the wider AIS Group, we deliver safe and seamless lifting operations without the delays or high costs typically faced by competitors. As a result, we are able to use fewer contractors, reduce downtime, and create a smoother project delivery.

Our specialist equipment
Our modern, fully owned fleet of heavy lifting equipment and machinery consists of:
- LG1750 SX – has a wide selection of boom configurations and a capacity to lift 400 tonnes at 20m radius and up to 105 tonnes at a 165m hook height and 34m radius on SX configuration.
- LTM1230 – has a maximum lifting capacity of 230 tonnes and can reach heights of over 110m. It also has a 75m telescopic boom and a 43m fixed jib for working with the boom fully raised, with a great hook height. The crane’s ECO drive technology helps to save fuel and reduces noise using enhanced travel drive tuning.
Besides our specialist cranes, we also utilise Mobile Elevated Work Platforms (MEWPs) and specially designed trucks and trailers suitable for turbine component transportation. Being part of the AIS Group, we also have access to a wide range of other specialist lifting equipment to suit your project requirements.
Projects we support with our specialist crane hire
Our crane hire services cover the full lifecycle of wind assets, including:
- New wind turbine installation
- Major component exchanges
- Full turbine repowering
- Decommissioning and dismantling
- Heavy-lift logistics on wind farms and hard to access sites

A more cost-effective solution
As part of the AIS Group, we are able to absorb crane costs that limit other service providers who have to rely on outsourced lifting. By using our own cranes and lifting teams that specialise exclusively in the wind energy sector, we can ensure our availability, rapid response, and full control over safety and quality.

In a standard CPA Crane Hire, the customer is responsible for providing the Appointed Person, the lifting plan, and the insurance. In a Contract Lift, AIS Wind Energy takes full responsibility for the entire operation. We provide the RAMS, the qualified personnel (Appointed Person and Slinger Signallers), and the necessary insurance cover. For complex wind turbine projects, we highly recommend a Contract Lift to ensure total LOLER compliance and risk mitigation.
Yes. As part of our heavy lifting service, we provide all necessary lifting tackle, including spreader beams, slings, and shackles, all of which are fully tested and colour-coded to meet current safety regulations. Our ‘Appointed Persons’ calculate the exact rigging requirements for each lift to ensure the load is balanced and secure, which is critical when handling wind turbine components at significant heights.
